One parent must always be a registered AHA animal.
(All animals already entered in the herd book as 100% AHA will be considered as Australian Heritage Angus cattle. Purebred animals already entered in the herd book which trace their pedigrees to Trangie and Heritage Angus animals ONLY, will also be considered as Australian Heritage Angus cattle)
What are Australian Heritage Angus Cattle?
Aberdeen Angus cattle that have not had any Standard Modern Angus influence since 1968.
Cattle from closed herds of Aberdeen Angus that have been closed since 1968 or earlier.
The use of semen from Aberdeen Angus sires born on or before 1968.

1.2 It does not follow that acceptance of any Australian Heritage Angus animal for registration implies acceptability of that animal for entry for any show or sale which may be conducted on behalf of the Society or on behalf of any Regional Committee or Sub- committee of the Society. Such entry will be conditional on the animal complying with conditions for Shows as set down in Regulations 12 and 13 of the Society.
1.3 The Australian Heritage Angus Herd Book is maintained for the recording of pedigree, tattoo, sex, date of birth, origin and ownership of all Australian Heritage Angus animals meeting the requirements as set forth by the Rules and Regulations of the Association.

All existing Pure Bred Australian Heritage Angus that have been bred from Australian Heritage Angus and Native Angus, only, as at the date of these amended Regulations.
Animals that have been bred from Registered Australian Heritage Angus with animals registered in the Heritage Angus Resource Genetic Register.
1.4.2 Purebred Australian Heritage Angus
Purebred animals are the product of a breeding up process using a base animal and an Australian Heritage Angus animal.

The percentage of Australian Heritage Angus genetics will appear on the pedigree.
1.4.3 Percentage Australian Heritage Angus
Percentage animals are the product of a cross breeding process from a base animal and an Australian Heritage Angus.
See 1.4.2. b The base animal is from a breed other than those in the Heritage Angus Resource Register.
They have a genetic makeup of greater than 25% and less than 93.75% Australian Heritage Angus genetics.
The percentage of Australian Heritage Angus genetics will appear on the pedigree.
1.4.4 Heritage Angus Genetic Resource
A Heritage Angus Genetic Resource register is maintained for the recording of animals that are eligible to be classified as Heritage Angus. See Preamble, See 6.4.4

IDENTIFICATION OF AUSTRALIAN HERITAGE ANGUS CATTLE
3.1 All 100% AHA and Purebred AHA cattle requiring registration must carry at least 2 forms of identification one of which will be the National Livestock Identification tag.
One other form of identification is required. This may be in the form of a management tag, ear tattoo or a legible, DPI registered and AHA recorded brand. The brand is to include the animal Identification – year letter and identification numbers as they appear in the animal’s tattoo or management tag. Percentage cattle will require a National Livestock Identification tag and will be registered with their allocated herd management tag or tattoo and identification as per rule 3.4
3.2 The complete visual number of the NLIS tag (including the Property Identification Code) will be, if provided, recorded on the pedigree of each animal. If an NLIS tag is lost and a replacement tag inserted, the Association must be notified of the number of the new tag within seven (7) days of insertion in the ear. The new tag number will then be applied to a revised pedigree.
3.3 A Member shall apply to have both a Herd Prefix and a Herd Tattoo registered with the Society before applying to enter (ownership of) any animal in the records of Society.

The Drop Number which shall so far as is practicable indicate the order in
point of time in which the animal was calved in relation to other calves
e.g. A 100% AHA or a Purebred AHA calf born in 2012 would have the following management tag or tattoo – XYZ H046. This would denote a calf that is the property of a stud with the Herd Identity of XYZ, born in year H (2012) with the unique number of 046
3.4.1 If tattooing, the Herd Identity Letters would appear in the animal’s right ear and the Year letter and Drop Number would appear in the animal’s left ear.
3.4.2 If using a management tag, the tag would include the information required for a tattoo and be applied to the animals left ear.
3.5 The brand is to be linked to the 3 letter Herd Identity Letter code
